Origin of the LAGenWeb Project
In March and April of 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.
At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of th e web site. The name KYGenWeb was eventually adopted as the name for the project. Other state projects were started, and soon USGenWeb was born, from the model project standards set at KYGenWeb.
LAGenWeb is the project for Louisiana. If the parish in which you are interested does not have a page and/or coordinator, and you wish to adopt a parish, then coordinate the project for that parish; please contact

You may notice a message beside the parish listing indicating it is available for adoption. This means that while we have created the parish page, we are now looking for someone to take it over. If you would like to adopt a web page for one of these parishes, please contact the current owner of the page, whose name is listed at the bottom of their parish page, or on this page beside their parish.

Parish Sites Available for Adoption
We have many Parishes available for volunteers so please consider helping the LAGenWeb Project and adopt a parish. Parishes available include:

My name is listed a contact person for each of these, but obviously I am not properly maintaining these sites. They need dedicated, interested coordinators so help us make the LAGenWeb a valuable research tool by helping us find the coordinators we need.
